When Savan Kotecha went back to his old high school in Austin, Texas to talk to students in the choir program about the importance of not only music but education in general, he realized how privileged he has been. Growing up in a stable home in a safe neighborhood and having the opportunity to attend a great school laid the foundation for Savan to chase his dreams. Unfortunately not everyone is born with the same opportunities or resources.

Savan Kotecha and his wife Anna Gustafsson founded the MyLeo foundation in 2017. The MyLeo Foundation’s mission is to provide college and vocational study scholarships for students from impoverished backgrounds. We feel that every person has a right to education but not everyone is born with equal opportunities to obtain it.

“It’s all right to tell a man to lift himself by his own bootstraps, but it is cruel jest to say to a bootless man that he ought to lift himself by his own bootstraps.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
